Baking Classes, Remodeling and Outreach Events with WOL

Posted in

Our second week of team ministry here in Mexico was truly special, working hand in hand with some special people from my home church, Word of Life Chapel. A whole lot of drywalling and cabinet making was accomplished, thanks to the preparation and oversight of Samuel, and the dedication of Denny, Zac, Phil, Erik and Luke. The ladies of the group, Cindy, Diane, Sherry, Marla and Jackie, did a great job with the baking classes. Mark presented the gospel at both reading glasses and hearing aid events, as well as one of the baking classes (pictured above).

The baking classes were attended by 62 women, 40 of which were non-churched ladies. Each day, while the cookies or cupcakes were baking, they heard the gospel message shared by both Mexican ladies as well as PA team members. Marla taught a craft class, and was able to buy 8-dozen roses and teach a simple class on floral arrangement.

The outreach events were also very well attended, with the first activity on Tuesday reaching over 100 people in a nearby neighborhood that is potentially the site of a future church plant. The second event on Thursday was attended by 80 people, all senior citizens.

Overall it was a very productive week! As we often do, the week finished with a goodbye party, with many laughs and quite a few tears. In a very short time, members of the body of Christ from two countries became close friends, and two local churches bonded. And of course…the chicken dance!
