MissionXChange Internship 2015

Posted in

Some of you may have heard that Rod and Mayra Fry are teaming up with Dave Miller and Co. of Adventures in Life Ministry to offer a brand new internship beginning next summer, 2015.

The dates are from June 22 through August 4. The first part of the internship includes an orientation time in Mexico City, then 3 weeks of urban ministry with the Frys, doing all sorts of creative, relationally-based outreach. Our “bread and butter” activities include English classes in both public school and community center contexts, sports activities and tournaments, wheelchair distribution, art classes and mural painting, music classes and concerts and much, much more. The power of the gospel flows through the Word of God communicated in a context of love and friendship. It’s exciting to be a part of that!

The second half of the internship will be spent in rural Oaxaca, and although the scenery will change from urban sprawl to corn fields and quaint villages, the focus of reaching Mexico with the transforming message of Jesus remains the same. Among the many focuses of Adventures in Life Ministry…kids camps, sustainability projects such as family greenhouses, fish and rabbit farms and water accessibility, and an emphasis on learning about Oaxacan culture, festivals and food! Dave won’t miss an opportunity to take you to the best eatery, or roadside hole-in-the-wall with tasty culinary treats. Your experience will end with a brief debrief in Mexico City before flying home.

Both Dave and Rod have over 20 years of experience in Mexico. Although their ministries are different, their philosophy is quite similar. Gospel proclamation via pretty much anything they can think of, benefiting their respective areas of influence through good works and Good News. Have an idea? They’d love to hear about it!

If you know of a high school or college aged individual 18 years or older who may be interested in this experience, please email Rod at rodmydancatdav@gmail.org or Dave at dave@ailministry.com  Check out their respective websites here at www.mexicomatters.org or Adventures in Life Ministries, at www.ailministry.com

Total length of internship: 45 days, or slightly over 6 weeks

Cost: $2500. Covers all in-country expenses. Airfare to and from Mexico extra.

Focus: Relationally based, holistic, intentional ministry, with a special emphasis put on learning from and with the Mexican church. Church planting and children ministry also receive special attention.

College Credit? Dave and Rod would be more than happy to facilitate an experience that would qualify for college credit, and are willing to fill out any paperwork associated with such an internship.
