2019 Ministry Theme

Posted in

Every year we try to come up with a ministry theme that is both relevant and real; a logo that describes in some way what ministry is about here, particularly as it relates to short-term team experiences, as this logo ends up on a t-shirt and is included in the team material, etc… This year, because we’re studying a book entitled Foreign to Familiar, that talks a lot about the idea of “hot” and “cold” cultural climates, our theme is the following, as always, thanks to the artistic talent of Samuel Valtierra.

I did a quick search on my hard drive for other summer themes, during the past 15 or so years. Here are some that I found. Were you here for any of these summers? If so, write a comment in the comment box below, or send me an email. We’d love to hear from you!

This year we are looking forward to hosting a group of 10 people from Camp Bighorn. The tag line on their gap year Journey program is “discipleship through adventure.” Pretty cool concept! Although we won’t be taking them to the top of any volcanoes, they’ll have plenty of urban and gastronomic challenge!

Other groups include teams from three different churches in PA and possibly one from CA. One of the biggest distinctions for groups that come visit Ixtapaluca is that team members live, worship, laugh, cry and eat with Mexican church members here–a unique opportunity to learn and grow from our international unity in the Spirit.
