We were delighted to participate in the Palmas Church’s first Sunday of 2024. Afterwards we took a picture…thankful for lots of visitors also this first Sunday of the year! The night before a bunch of kids descended on our house and celebrated a Mexican custom rosca de reyes where small plastic “baby Jesus” dolls are […]
Baptisms are always my favorite services, because in baptisms, discipleship comes into focus, and both conversion and commitment are highlighted. This past Sunday, three teenagers were baptized; Emiliano (13), Daniel (16) and Paola (18). We drove our vans and cars, 9 in all, about an hour outside of Mexico City to a beautiful park, complete
On Sunday, November 6, 2022, the third Bible Church plant in Ixtapaluca celebrated its 6th anniversary. The church initiated in 2016 in a nearby neighborhood called Palmas 1, thus the name (Iglesia Bíblica Sendero de Vida Palmas, or Path of Life Bible Church Palmas). Since the pandemic, we’ve been meeting in a different neighborhood entitled
Two weeks ago, on a Saturday, Edgar Corona was walking to our house for a men’s Bible study. He never made it. His wife Violeta finally tracked him down at 2 a.m. Sunday morning, and visited him at the emergency room at a local hospital. He had suffered a massive stroke, and was unconscious. Details
We have been pleased to host two church groups over the past two weeks. Gary, Kathy, Denny, Matt, Melissa, Ken, Diana and Jackie from Word of Life Chapel ministered in the Jesus Maria church, and were engaged in two primary activities: baking/cooking classes and electrical work. Our summer started off with a bang, receiving three Liebenzell U.S.A. interns (Joshua, Amanda and Rafael), as well as a team of 18 people from Mount Calvary Church. A couple notables about the Mt. We’ve been back in Mexico now for several weeks, and they’ve been full and fun. Much of what we’ve been doing is preparing for a bunch of teams and several summer interns, which always makes our summers extra special. In addition to well over 50 people visiting us, we also have a 15años celebration, a
Of course, it never really seems like winter here. Sure, it can dip down into the low 40s or even sometimes into the high 30s, but later on in the day you’re enjoying 70-75°F weather. As I write, David at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown is getting buried in 10″ of snow. It was
This past Sunday, about 40 of us traveled about 40 minutes from Ixtapaluca, toward our two towering neighbors, Iztaccíhuatl (translated the white woman, or sleeping woman) and Popocatépetl (the smoking mountain), which is a very active volcano. Izta and Popo for short. It’s really a beautiful area. We went to celebrate Sendero Palmas’ fifth anniversary.
Need some encouraging news in the midst of ongoing discouraging national and world news about disease and natural disasters? Read on! God continues to work in the hearts and lives of people. Mexico City is probably 2-4 weeks behind much of the U.S. in dealing with the virus. Churches have been re-congregating little by little.
