Driving from here to downtown ranks right up there with going to the dentist as my favorite things to do. Right now there’s hardly a way to go where you don’t hit construction or political potest marches. Traffic can be intense.
Today I left around 12:30 after ordering block and mortar to seal one large room into two bedrooms, in the Cottrills newly rented 2,3,or 4 bedroom house. I picked up Alan at 1 p.m., along Zaragoza, a main avenue into the city. Alan was saved about 4 months ago…a 21 year old drummer and English teacher. Good guy. I wanted to take advantage of the trip to spend some time with him.
Our purpose…buy a 7 octave Yamaha keyboard and a bass guitar. We went to a section of downtown where you can walk to probably 30 music stores in a 2-3 block area. We ended up buying a nice Yamaha red bass guitar for about $250, but didn’t find a suitable keyboard…all too expensive.
We ended up eating lunch with Alberto, Claudia’s husband downtown at 3 p.m., then went to two Christian bookstores. That’s gotta be one of my favorite activities. Especially when I have some discretionary income. Even when I don’t. I can always justify it as an investment.

3 children’s books; The Case for Christ, Faith and a Creator…an attractive, simple summary for kids
4 children’s biographies…Jim Elliot, Corrie Ten Boom, Eric Lidell and Joni Erickson
1 Beth Moore study on the book of Daniel
1 copy of This Present Darkness, by Perretti. Claudia wanted that one.
Most of these books we’ll just give away…always such an encouragement to people to be reading a good book.
Reading books is counter-cultural; most Mexicans don’t read a lot…but I think that’s often because they don’t know what to read, and do not have interesting, relavant books to read.
