Yesterday in English class I had 12 students. But there were 20+ kids from 10-14 in basketball! Crazy. The lights went out after our 5:30 p.m. class, so the 6:30 class was canceled.
I started reading a book yesterday in Spanish entitled The Leadership Baton, good book. It talks about the importance of taking risks on people, placing them in situations where they can develop leadership skills. It mentioned that the value of excellence, that many churches (especially large ones) have can be counter-productive in developing people. Most of us aren’t exceptional, we’re ordinary. Good news…Matt and Alyssa (Johnson) Miller are confirmed for three months, from March to June. Also, a family of 4 from our home church, the Beenengas (pronounced BEN-ah-gays), will be here.
I took a van ride, then three separate lines of the Metro, to go the whole way to Polanco, to the immigration office yesterday. Even at 9 a.m., the subway system was packed. Hard to fully describe that experience. Need that visa renewed by March 9! Looks like we have submitted the papers in plenty of time.
