Second Tournament, Dreamers Defend Title

Posted in ,

Last Saturday, November 3, we organized our second soccer tournament at the Elizabethtown Poplar St. Park, and we happy to see four full teams compete. After a rainy start, we had a beautiful day for soccer. A shout out to GEARS for giving us permission to play soccer at the enclosed hockey court.

A big thank you to Kim and Alicia and Hope Community for helping with the drinks, and for Mayra, for making some good, Mexican abuelita hot chocolate. It’s getting cold, so we are looking for indoor options to continue this competition under roof.

During a break in the action we were able to remind the guys that life is not all about soccer and Fortnite, but there are also important spiritual realities they need to consider. I shared John 14:6 with them, and offering them a Spanish, English or bilingual Bible study if they would so desire.

The “Dreamers” won for the second consecutive time, taking home the trophies.

The “Osos” (Bears) took silver. This team was composed of several Elizabethtown Bears soccer players.

Ben was awarded Most Valuable Player for both his soccer skills and good attitude during the games.
