United Service (Culto Unido) 2019

Posted in

Every year the 10-12 Bible churches in the Mexico City metro area get together and have a joint Sunday service. This year, Daniel Frias, a brother in the Jesús María church here and myself are circuit coordinators, a responsibility I have avoided like the plague until this year…when I felt I didn’t have enough of excuses to NOT accept it.

We decided to meet in a wooded area about a half an hour drive from Ixtapaluca, towards the volcanoes. I’m guessing we were up around 9,000 ft. above sea level, perhaps higher. It was cool when we arrived, and remained cool in the shadows all day.

For the past month or so, about 10 of us have been practicing for the music service last Sunday. Fortunately we are blessed with some wonderful musicians here in the Sendero churches; it was a lot of fun playing and singing with them! Ismael, the pastor of the Jesús María church, directed the service, and Martín Méndez, pastor of the Santa Bárbara church, preached from Psalm 29.

About 330 people showed up for the service, many of them traveling the whole way across the city for the event. A small generator powered the sound system, but that was enough! After the service…lots of great food. Below, some pictures, and don’t miss the brief video.
