Still Water Community Church and Lighthouse Community Church Weekends

Posted in

Still playing catch-up with this blog…during the month of May we were privileged to be visited by old friend Kurt Horting, his wife Beth, and members of the leadership team at Still Water Community Church, from Rowlette, TX. The featured image above is Kurt preaching from Romans 6 at the Jesus Maria church on Sunday, May 19. It was fun to translate for him. I grew up with Kurt, and our connection in ministry after all these years is a fun thing. Still Water is looking to partner with us here in a number of different ways, among them helping with formal theological education, using material developed by a DTS graduate entitled Bible Training Centre for Pastors. We’re excited about this new friendship with Still Water. Below, some pics.

Another exciting opportunity in May was a conference on Biblical counseling, given by several pastors from Lighthouse Community Church, in Torrance, CA. Pastors Tim St. John and Mat Pau shared wonderful principles on biblical counseling, to about 50 people from four different churches, including the three Sendero churches here. It was great to have David here too, and we appreciated the wonderful translation delivered by Laura. Thanks also to Manuel and Gavin, and those behind the scenes that worked hard on preparing the group for a great teaching time.

A couple of my takeaways…when people tell their stories, have them focus on the good, the hard and the bad. God uses “heat”, we can see “fruit” and what matters is the “roots.”  A big thanks to the Sendero Santa Bárbara church for hosting the conference, 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 25.
