Friends, Family, Ministry and Snow!

Posted in

This early 2024 has been an exciting time in many ways, as Mayra and I began the year in Mexico, the returned to PA for two mission conferences at Cairn University and Lancaster Bible College. Rod was also pleased to be able to participate in an all-church conference for Mt. Joy Church of God at Camp YoliJwa (an acronym that means “Youth Living Jesus’ Way), as well as ministry at E-town Grace Church and Word of Life Chapel.

We found Joshua Nacy at Cairn, as well as Ben Smith and a number of other students that were interested in Mexico internships.
Ethan Miller, student at LBC, came by and said hi, as well as a number of friends from local churches that we’ve come to know. Ethan did a summer internship in 2022.
Liebenzell director Dr. Christopher Matthews shared at E-town Grace from Colossians 1; the heart of God to rescue and translate.
Fernando and Rod shared the preaching time at E-town Grace. More than one person said that Fernando really didn’t need a translator: he said it all with his face and hand gestures!

It was a special treat to be able to spend some special time with friends Fernando and Luz Maria Amezcua also. The Amezcua’s joined our mission, Liebenzell USA, as associate members on February 9, then were able to spend several days with us in PA. On their bucket list…seeing their first snowfall, and God treated them to 6-7 inches one morning while they were here! Thanks, mom and dad Fry, for being the awesome hosts that you always are!

Fernando, Luz Maria and Rod’s wonderful mom and dad, Arlene and John. This March and May they both turn 80, and this October they celebrate 60 years of marriage!
Putting Fernando to work! Snow isn’t 100% fun!
On the way back to JFK, we stopped for a bit in Manhattan. Luz Maria and Mayra in front of the Rockefeller Building
The obligatory stop at Times Square…where it’s hard to find a bathroom! But that’s another story.

We are excited to see Fernando and Luz Maria again, soon, in Guadalajara. A group of 15 from the Woodside Bible churches in Michigan will be visiting Guadalajara the end of March. It’s going to be a great time!
