Schoolhouse Rock

A couple of weeks ago David, Cathy and I (Rod) went to the Jr. Hi School where Samuel teaches for a video conference with Ella, a girl from PA who came down with a group from Mt. Calvary Church this past June. Special, long-distance friendships were formed, and social media makes such friendships easier than ever to maintain. We went to the school to help translate for Ella, who was going to talk to one whole class via Skype, her face projected onto a large screen.

Unfortunately, technology failed us, and interaction was limited. So the whole class is asking for a redux, and we’re looking to make that happen again soon.

This coming Monday, four students from WOL Mexico will be at this school from 7 a.m., the whole way through 7 p.m., giving value-oriented conferences to the over 1000 students. Cool, huh? Their theme: Surviving the 21st Century. They’ll be focusing on making good decisions, avoiding self-destructive behaviors and bullying. Should be fun…as well as a wide open door for sharing truth!
