Uncharted Waters and Tiempo de Vivir

Our relationship with Uncharted Waters Sports Ministry in Ixtapaluca goes way back to 2007, when a team of students did an international sports ministry club here in Ixtapaluca. Since then, UW was visited us at least five times.

Mike Contreras, UW’s international director and former missionary to Mexico has visited three times over the last five years, most recently in the summer of 2015, bringing with him UW staff member Levi Marti (who was a UW intern way back in 2008) and a group from Gibson City Bible Church. This past Tuesday, around 10 of us were trained by Mark Palma (left, picture below) and Mike with the goal of creating a soccer league to reach out to our community in an intentional, organized way using soccer. This Saturday will mark the first introductory class, and the league, Lord willing, will begin the following Saturday.

We are excited about this new outreach, and are grateful that God has raised up young people in the church who are able and willing to take this idea and run with it. Literally.
