A Bigger Table Needed

Posted in

Look who visited us yesterday!  Miguel and Iris and their four kids were here for a Día de Reyes lunch.  Totally unplanned and spontaneous, but hey, welcome to Mexico!  Iris contacted the two families with the two kids in need of wheelchairs.  After waiting for them to pick up the chairs, we all headed over to our house.  One problem…our table is rarely big enough for our Sunday dinners!  Yesterday we put 10 chairs around our table made for 6…and a couple of us still had to eat standing up!

Amazing how Roland Allen’s classic book Missionary Methods: St. Paul’s or Ours still gets talked about.  I remember hearing about the book first from veteran Camino Global missionary Art Mikesell, and reading through it before I even arrived in Mexico.  It was a provocative, formative book for me.  Ed Stetzer talks about it in a recent post HERE.  I am also very much enjoying Neil Cole’s book Journeys to Significance: Charting a Leadership Course from the Life of Paul.  Cole mentions Allen’s book occasionally in his writings.

Beautiful article on Ravi Zacharias’ website. Watching for Light.

Quote of the Day: LUKEWARM PEOPLE think about life on earth much more often than eternity in heaven. Daily life is mostly focused on today’s to-do list, this week’s schedule, and next month’s vacation. Rarely, if ever, do they intently consider the life to come. Regarding this, C. S. Lewis writes, “If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this.”
