Baptisms yesterday…

Posted in

Yesterday we once again took what is usually an annual pilgrimage to a public water park outside the city (in Cuautla) to baptize those who have come to faith recently. So yesterday morning we met at 7:30 a.m. (which was really 6:30 a.m., because we just changed over here to Daylight Savings Time) and went as a church in a 45 passenger bus and two vans. There were about 60 of us in all.

Baptism here is a very public thing, because most churches don’t have baptistries. So we basically go to a public swimming area, pay to get in, have our service, then “take over” a section of the pool in front of everyone and do the baptisms. Invariably we draw a crowd.

Yesterday 7 people from the church were baptized…always awesome to see. In addition, and this is pretty wild…we baptized 4 other Christians that happened to see what was going on, convinced us there were indeed Christians, and who had never been baptized, but wanted to be.

This is the fourth baptism for Sendero de Vida.
