I went up to PA last week for three reasons. The most important one was to be present at Cathy’s baccalaureate service, as we’re not able to be at her graduation from Mount Calvary Christian School (which is this Saturday, June 1). But we wanted at least one of us to be present for Cathy at this special time, so I went up. It was a great time to be with her and Daniel, attend several parties and enjoy some beautiful PA weather (which apparently has been rare lately)!
I went north for two other reasons…to establish an account for Mexico Matters, which has been formally instituted as a 501(c) non-profit, and to register David for school at E-town this next fall semester. Well, one out of two isn’t too bad, I guess. The account was established, but residency requirements for public school in PA are, well, let’s just say they are restrictive. The legal guardianship arrangement we had in place was not sufficient to guarantee acceptance for enrollment. So we’ve had to re-think all of that, but there is still an opportunity for David to attend school at E-town as a foreign exchange student. Or we think there is. We’ll see.
As always, it was a joy to be with my parents and see a bunch of crazy relatives. And as you can imagine, Mayra really wanted to be there too! But she got a surprise, as son Daniel came to Mexico with me, to surprise his mom!
We are so thankful for those who graciously helped us send Cathy to MCCS, and for all the teachers and administration that have helped her over this last year and a half. Congrats Cathy!
