Community Center Closing Program (video)

Posted in ,

Many of you know that we like using all sorts of “good works” to reach out to our community. At the heart of this approach are our community center classes. We’ve been doing 12-14 week fall and spring courses since…I don’t know, probably 2011? That means we just finished our 11th semester.

At the closing program we invite parents and friends of the students who have participated in the classes, have a recognition service and generally just hang out and have a good time. We also make sure we present the gospel.

You can check out our co-worker’s posts HERE (Tina Barham’s) for more pictures and info about the event. Below is part of Mayra’s gospel presentation, accompanied by a cow bell, which, as I’m sure you know, means that the garbage truck would soon be passing by the street in front of the community center! Mayra has a real gift for communicating the good news in a clear, understandable way. Cathy helped read the Bible verses.

That evening I was reminded again why we do community center outreach. We had a totally open door to talk to around 30 people (including three complete families) in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere…people that we would have otherwise probably never met.
