Dave and Popo

Posted in

Yesterday I spent the morning with new friend Dave Miller, from Adventures in Life Ministry. We met through a mutual friend, our church “mascot” Brigam Z. If you’re this close to Cortez’s Pass, you really need to make the hour long trip up through beautiful forested moutains to the top of the pass.

Popocatepetl means “smoking mountain.” It’s certainly be living up to its name in recent years. Rarely do you not see at least a small plume of ash rising above the crater. This blog takes its name from this volcanoe and its nearby neighbor, Iztaccihuatl.

It was refreshing talking through short-term missions ministry with Dave. He works in Oaxaca, Guadalajara and Ensenada, using all sorts of creative means to further the kingdom. His latest project in Oaxaca is a simple but effective fish farm that could provide protein to areas where nutrition is a real factor. His basis of ministry is relational, one aspect of many that we share.

Quote of the Day:God gives us tiny little tastes of hell on earth so that we might be awakened out of our spiritual slumber with an ice cold splash of eternal realities in our face.
