Easter weekend is such a special time. Samuel pointed out in his sermon this morning that we really don’t know when Christ was born, but we do know quite exactly when he was crucified, as noted in the Biblical record as the time when the Jews celebrate the passover, which begins on the 15th day of the month of Nisan in the Jewish calendar, and is spring in the Northern Hemisphere.
Here, our Easter celebration began with a special Seder service on Friday evening. David Gómez led us in this traditional Jewish feast, incorporating the special Christian elements of the celebration that Jesus initiated at the Last Supper.
On Saturday evening, I began a men’s study with four other men. Our commitment–to read the book of 1 Peter every day M-F, memorizing at least one verse from each chapter of the book over the course of the next 5-6 weeks.
This morning the church in Jesús María met at 6 a.m., and we began transporting people up to Samuel and Aurora’s house for an Easter sunrise service. What a precious time to remember that “He is not here, He is risen!” He is risen indeed! Here are some pictures.
