“Sillas and pastillas” sounds a lot better in Spanish because it rhymes. “Chairs and pills” just doesn’t jingle quite as well! This was the subtitle of a workshop that Julio Domínguez gave at last week’s missions conference. He also brought his wife Tamara and small son Isaac the whole way from Veracruz.
Julio and Tamara visited us while we were in Veracruz with my parents recently, giving us all sorts of tips as to good restaurants and good beaches. Julio even brought the kids to boogie boards for the waves! I was thinking about posting a picture of Julio and myself (without a shirt) on the beach, but thought better of it!
Tomorrow I’m headed down to OB Mexico´s big warehouse in Los Reyes, about a half hour drive from here. I’m returning a box nearly full of canisters that contain 500 anti-parasite pills, that OB provides for about $18 a container, a price much less than market value. We appreciated OB’s donation of three wheelchairs, one of which is already in Oaxaca.
One of the advantages of a missions conference in Mexico (and anywhere for that matter) is networking. Many of us made contacts with people and organizations that will undoubtedly serve to advance the cause of Christ in Mexico. Tony Vasquez introduced us to a number of his friends. Fernando already is excited about the possibilities of working together with Gaspar and Dave in various projects in Oaxaca.
