Veracruz and Progress

Posted in

This past week we spent three days in Veracruz, and got together as a team for a devotional time, prayer and encouragement. One of the highlights of the trip was spending some time with Claudia and her two sweet daughters. They used to be part of the church in Santa Bárbara before moving to that state.

Early Wednesday morning we did a bit of exploring by boat.  What began as a three-hour tour did not turn into a Gilligan’s Island style adventure, although we did experience some rather strange events. Stephen, David and I were all excited about exploring a coral reef and a small, random island out in the Gulf of Mexico. Our excitement about the trip encouraged Mayra and Cathy to join us.

Well, guess what? It didn’t happen. Instead we went inland, towards a large salt-water lake, but still did see a lot of God’s beautiful creation, including a really funky thin, silver fish called a espaldilla, and probably the ugliest fish I’ve ever seen, called a toad fish. A very apt name for it.

Below…a picture of some pelicans hanging out on a submerged tree.

Also…we are making progress on the purchase of land for the church!  Every several days, steps are being made and part of the process accomplished!  We are very excited to see how God has been working!
