Ron Blue in Puebla

Posted in

This past Tuesday night I drove to Puebla to attend a conference focusing on missions and the local church. I had planned to go right after my English class at 5 p.m., but plans changed. At about 1 p.m. I got a cell phone call from Bob Buhler, who was helping to organize not only the conference but also a late lunch with about 30 pastors and lay leaders. The lunch began at 2 p.m. Would I come and help get Ron Blue, Mexican missionary candidates Alex and Liz Pantoja (who are desirous of going to the Muslim world) and Bob get to Puebla.

Well, I must admit I have a bit of a reputation for speed. We didn’t get there by 2 p.m., but did roll into Puebla Bible Seminary at 2:45, not bad for as far away as we were.

Ron was awesome, as always. 71 years old and still one of the most enthusiastic speakers I know; in English or Spanish. He always alliterates his sermons to death, but it is done so well that it doesn’t seem trite or tedious. He is also, more importantly, a man of God.
