We Can Afford to be Generous People

The church. The church is not a building, although it often meets in a building. The church is more like a family, where values are shared and priorities are similar. A group of people that understands the importance of love and humility, of joy and sacrifice…and understands these concepts from the inside out. This is possible because of a shared communion, a joint devotion, a common belief, a same Spirit.

Although we may not speak the same language, we innately know what is right and good, what is worth seeking, what deserves a laugh, what provokes a smile and what causes sadness, even pity. Can you feel the power of such a community? Can you see how such an attitude of cheer and compassion is invincible? He who gave even his own Son to us, will He not graciously give us all things? We can afford to be generous people, because indeed the whole world is ours. In the words of the Apostle Paul, “All things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.” (1 Cor. 3:21-23)

Too much to write about and too tired to write it…but suffice it to say that these have been some blessed days. On Saturday we were able to talk to a lot of soccer players about not ignoring God when he talks to you. On Sunday we worshiped the Lord in two languages, sometimes in the same song. Today, the water line for the church was (finally) installed. At times we had up to four patrol cars in front of the church. Cool things happening with the Mt. Calvary team and the construction, wheelchairs and baking classes. Cool things happening in and through us.

More later. Gotta sleep off some tacos.
